Rainbow Swirl

Acrylic on canvas
24" x 24"

2003

Rainbow Swirl and Chocolate Swirl represent a departure from the artist's hard-edge abstract geometric paintings. Instead of being planned in advance, these works emerged from spontaneous experiments with paint application and manipulation without brushes (aka finger painting).

The lack of structure also mimics her transition from a "boxed-in" day job, working in a lab, cubicle, or office as an engineer, to the relatively flexible existence of being self-employed as an artist.
